Seven killed as ambulance catches fire in Faridpur

All seven people of an ambulance were killed as the vehicle caught fire at Maligram of Bhanga upazila in Faridpur on Saturday morning.

The victims included three women, two children and two men.

 

Identities of the victims could not be known yet, said Bhanga police officer-in-charge Ziarul Islam.

He said that the accident took place at about 10:45am in Maligram area.

All the seven people on the ambulance were charred to death, he added.

The OC said that the driver might have lost control over the vehicle and hit a road divider and the ambulance caught fire from the gas cylinder explosion.

He said that they were investigating into the incident.

Ranendranath Chowdhury, an official of Bhanga station of the Fire Service and Civil Defence, said that they rushed to the spot immediately after the accident.

‘We reached there at about 10:55am and put out the fire. The ambulance was going to Faridpur from Dhaka,’ he said.
